Although you might not like the smell of fish markets, this area is a great place to visit in Batumi. I love going to the fish market in Batumi as it’s always interesting to see what kinds of fish are caught in the area.
Ali And Nino Statue
Ali and Nino is a statue of the two lovers in Batumi, Georgia. The statue was created by sculptor Zurab Tsereteli. It is located on the seafront boulevard and depicts Ali, a Muslim man from Baku, and Nino, a Christian Georgian woman.
The statue which was unveiled on 9 October 2000 commemorates the tragic love story of Ali and Nino. The couple met at a party in 1912 when Ali was only 18 years old and Nino was 16. They fell deeply in love with each other but could not be together because of religion differences between them. After that incident, their lives took different paths as they were separated for 10 years until they met again at another party in 1922 where they had to part ways again because of their different faiths.
Piazza Square
Piazza Square is a project by the Georgian National Agency for the Development of Public-Private Partnerships (GNAPPP) and Batumi City Hall. The project was initiated to develop Batumi as a regional hub for business, tourism, culture and education. It will also be a base for startups and innovation centers.
The Piazza Square is a shopping mall in the old part of Batumi, Georgia. It is located on the coast of the Black Sea and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Georgia. The Piazza Square has been designed to resemble an Italian piazza, with wide sidewalks and large fountains.
It was opened on October 26, 2009 and it was built by Turkish company Polimeks for $200 million USD. The construction lasted for three years and it was financed by Turkish bank Garanti Bank International A.S., Tbilisi-based Marubi Group LLC and Georgian businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili’s Patarkatsishvili Group LLC
